Chris Cornell – Scream [2009]
Some of you may recognize the name Chris Cornell from his days collaborating with bands such as AudioSlave or Soundgarden–you may also recognize his voice, which is fairly distinctive and hailed by some as the greatest rock voice of all time. Following those gigs, he also put out some solo albums as well, all of which, I hear, were quite good.
Scream is getting some flack from Chris’ fans as being a sell-out album. Personally, I disagree. Sure, so he worked with Timbaland as producer, and sure, you really couldn’t call any of the songs rock and roll, but that right there is a pure Chris distinctive. He’s never been afraid to take chances. So give the guy a break and appreciate Scream for what it is–a really awesome collection of songs that are really difficult to define. Are they rock? R&B? Who can say–and WHO CARES! Good stuff… give it a listen.
Oh, also, I first heard the title track from this album on Gossip Girl. Don’t say TV never gave us anything. Coincidentally, Rufus Humphrey scarily resembles Chris. Random fact for ya.
Chris Cornell, ladies and gentlemen, a man a little too funny looking to be truly good looking, gives us Scream, an album that I can actually listen to all the way through without being bored.
