Twilight Soundtrack [2008]

Twilight SoundtrackI was digging through my car today looking for something good to listen to, nearly despairing, when I came up with nothing other than the Twilight Soundtrack. Since it had recently made my list of albums I like nearly all the way through, I popped it in and, hey, it’s still good!

Most people when they think of Twilight, they do one of two things. A. roll their eyes, or B. Sigh, a slight smile taking over their features at the memory of Rob Pattinson‘s face. Seriously though, is it just me, or he honestly a little funny looking?? Certainly not bad looking, but definitely not as hot as people are giving him credit for. Wash your hair, Rob. I would love you more, because hair matters to me.

I digress.

One of my favorite things about the movie was the music. I am one of those people that looks up cool music they hear in movies or television shows, generally by trying to remember the lyrics long enough to Google them–the other day I found a movie ticket in my drawer that had a few random lines on it.

I love the Twilight Soundtrack both because it’s awesome on its own and because it introduced me to a couple artists I never would have known about otherwise. I’ll break it down for ya.

Track List:

  1. Supermassive Black Hole – Muse

This song I love, although I think it might be mostly because of its scene in the movie… hard to say, but it’s good.

  2. Decode – Paramore

Paramore is one of those bands that I tend to not like extremely well as a rule, but occasionally puts out a song I really like. This is one of those songs. It also applies well to the movie, so good job to whoever chose the track.

  3. Full Moon - The Black Ghosts

LOVE THIS SONG–this is by FAR my favorite song from the movie, and when I first heart the opening strains as Bella climbs into her car to leave Phoenix, my heart swelled. At that moment, I vowed to find out what it was and listen to it every day for the rest of my life. I have not done well keeping that vow, obviously, since I just found the CD today buried in the very very bottom of my car. The very bottom. Still love it though.

  4. Leave Out All The Rest - Linkin Park

I’d forgotten how much I liked Linkin Park until I heard this song… it’s another one of my favorites from the disc.

  5. Spotlight [Twilight Mix] – Mutemath

Probably my second favorite song from the soundtrack, it super upbeat and fun to blast as loud as possible while speeding down the freeway. When I say speeding, I do mean the illegal kind, since there are some songs that inspire a certain leaden tendency in your gas foot… this is one. Love it.

  6. Go All The Way [Into the Twilight] - Perry Farrell

This song… ehn. I usually skip it.

  7. Tremble For My Beloved – Collective Soul

Another one that I usually skip.

  8. I Caught Myself – Paramore

See my previous comment on Paramore… I’m indifferent about this song.

  9. Eyes On Fire – Blue Foundation

Thank you Twilight for introducing me to Blue Foundation! I love this, although it’s the type of song that takes a while to grow on most people. I have one friend who accused me of being morbid and depressed for liking it.

  10. Never Think - Rob Pattinson

Rob, really… it makes me so incredibly sad to not like your song, since I was hoping it would help you cross over into the truly attractive zone. Instead, I find your vocal stylings affected and annoying. Skip.

  11. Flightless Bird, American Mouth - Iron & Wine

I’m pretty sure I like this song, but it’s a teensy bit hard to say, since by the time I get to Rob’s debacle, I’ve often skipped back to the beginning to listen to Full Moon again. However, I’m quite sure it’s pleasant in a indie-movie-soundtrack kind of way.

  12. Bella’s Lullaby – Carter Burwell

The final track is taken from the film score, and while Twilight fans everywhere are bemoaning the fact that it’s not exactly what they’d always imagined Bella’s Lullaby to be, I quite like it. It’s lovely.

The long and the short of all this is, I love this soundtrack!
