The Wreckers – Stand Still, Look Pretty [2006]
Although I knew about The Wreckers, the first time I was really aware of them was during an episode of One Tree Hill. The girls guest starred on the show and performed a few songs for an in-story concert.
I liked Michelle Branch back in her Are You Happy Now? days, when I was spending all my energy hating Vanessa Carlton and trying to decide if I liked Avril Lavigne. Michelle, I suppose, was a bit of a happy medium between the two, and ended up with a solid vote from me. It didn’t hurt that she did a song with Carlos Santana, who I also tend to love.
At any rate, Stand Still, Look Pretty is a solid album with the kind of country sensibilities I like–those that lean more toward rock than whine.
Incidentally, although I’ve had many brief periods of fascination with pop and hip-hop and the like, one of the reasons I always come back to country and folk (etc) is that I LOVE harmony. Vocal dynamics are magic.
I’m just bummed that The Wreckers didn’t stay together long enough to put out a second album. 
Sad.
