Beck Loves Music

I’m pretty sure this is an oldish song, but I’ve had it stuck in my head like crazy for the last couple weeks, so I figured I’d share the joy.

My initial inclination on watching this video was to laugh at Chung Lim‘s hair and wonder why so many Youtubers felt the need to rave about his hotness. Hot? Hm… his hair did get better toward the end and I suppose there is a certain sort of attractiveness about him, so we’ll leave that alone.

However, I am going to take this opportunity to complain about something that I just don’t understand. What is up with the crotch grab and/or pelvic thrust? Perhaps they’re going for sexy… frankly, I think it borders more on obscene. Obviously, not all-out obscene like some other things which will never be discussed on this blog, but honestly, if some guy walked up to you on the street and treated you with one of those, you’d probably kick him in the face. This particular “dance” move has long perplexed me in American entertainment and I’m very disturbed to find it elsewhere in the world. Some things should not be copied.

Speaking of things I don’t understand… mustaches. Watch the video and you’ll know what I mean.
